Panna Cotta Recipe
Panna Cotta is a classic Italian dessert known for its creamy, silky texture. It’s made from sweetened cream thickened with gelatin and can be flavored with vanilla, coffee, or other ingredients. This elegant dessert is perfect for special occasions or a delightful end to any meal.
Ingredients
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) unflavored gelatin
- 3 tablespoons cold water
Instructions
Prepare the Gelatin:
- In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the gelatin blooms and becomes spongy.
Heat the Cream Mixture:
- In a medium saucepan, combine heavy cream, whole milk, and sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is hot but not boiling.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Dissolve the Gelatin:
- Add the bloomed gelatin to the hot cream mixture. Whisk until the gelatin is completely dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
Pour and Chill:
- Pour the mixture into individual serving glasses or ramekins.
- Allow them to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set.
Serve:
- Once set, panna cotta can be served directly in the glasses or ramekins. For a fancier presentation, you can unmold them onto serving plates.
- Garnish with fresh berries, a berry compote, or a drizzle of caramel sauce if desired.
Enjoy your creamy and elegant panna cotta, a perfect dessert for any occasion!
